Every year, thousands of young people are left to face homelessness alone without the support they need. Since last year, youth homelessness has increased by 6% - meaning 1 in every 60 young people face homelessness.
But for one in three, the door is shut before help even begins.
That’s over 37,000 young people in England left out from receiving the homelessness assessment they need – left without safety, stability or support.
Councils are stretched to breaking point, forced to make difficult decisions with the funding they have. But with fewer resources and rising need, young people are paying the price.
We need as many people as possible to tell the UK Government that no young person should be left out from the support they deserve. Join us as we call on the UK Government for:
- A government review into councils' youth homelessness assessment rates as increasing numbers of young people present as homeless
- Funding that matches local demand so that all young people receive a homelessness assessment and timely support
If you agree more needs to be done to urgently tackle the youth homelessness crisis, will you join us in urging the government to act?
